Also do not direct link to this guide!* Call My Name (Jade and Sapphirus Story) --------------------------------------- Jade was hunting an angel, and wounded it to the point of death. He then asks Sapphirus to finish the angel off, but Sapphirus does not want to kill it. He believes that angels are special, sacred creatures, and it's against his beliefs to take its life. Jade tells him that once they return to Heaven, it will be a secret, and to just picture the angel as his most hated person in the world. Sapphirus then kills the angel, but still feels bad as it is the first time he has ever killed something. Jade tells him that once he gets used to killing he will be good at it, and he did well for his first time. Sapphirus is actually a bit happy at this comment, even though he should be feeling disgusted or regretful. Sapphirus feels that Jade is his only partner in the dark, sinister Abyss, and he does not want Jade to dislike him or to abandon him. He wants Jade to like him. Even when they have disagreements/fights, Sapphirus still wants to be liked by Jade and wants to hear Jade's words of praise again. Then he thinks that he was just being an idiot and silly, he just wanted to hear what he wanted to hear, and really he justed wanted to fulfill his own wants and desires. ~*~ Sapphirus falls asleep and has a dream his girlfriend back in Heaven. He thinks that the reason he didn't go crazy is because he was thinking of her deeply while he was falling. Yet, now he can't even recall her appearance, though he can remember their conversations. She asks him whether he thinks it's strange that angels could not love someone more than God and that their meeting is only to reproduce. Sapphirus isn't concerned with such issues, and tells her that he believes in God's decision and that they would be happy together because it was fate, and that she is the person that he loves, though only second place in his heart, because God is of course first. She asks him whether he truly believes what he has just said, as she doesn't believe in his beliefs. Sapphirus then asks her to fall in love with him, and said that he didn't mind being second place in her heart. She replies that everyone is weird and wonders why no one thinks it is strange, and then she starts to blame herself, saying that she is crazy, it's her fault, etc. She complains that she hates being second place, she wants to be someone's favorite. Sapphirus says that he loves her again, but in return she replies that she is not his favorite. Realizing what she said, she asks Sapphirus not to tell anyone else her words, especially the arch-angels. He tells her that he won't say anything because he loves her. She keeps denying her words, saying what she said wasn't her real thoughts, as she is terrified of being thrown to the Abyss. Sapphirus again confirms that he won't say anything because they are destined to be together. She then covers his right eye with his hair because she can't stand Sapphirus looking at her with both eyes (and Sapphirus continues to wear his hair over his right eye since because of this). She then questions why she had to be born in Heaven. Sapphirus is kind of half-awake, half-asleep, and Jade comes in to wake him up. Sapphirus won't get up, so then Jade hits him to wake him up. He tells him to get ready for work, as both are now working as angel hunters. Sapphi tells Jade that he needs to get changed and kicks Jade out of his room, and after some teasing, Jade leaves him. Sapphirus thinks about Jade, that he has an attractive smile and that makes Jade popular with girls. However, he only smiles to the people that he hates. The more he hates them, the more he smiles. The leader of their band of angel hunters is a girl who likes Jade, and Jade is a good worker and polite in front of her, but is spreading rumors about her behind her back. Sapphirus, who is also popular with the girls, thinks that the women in Hell are weak, and feels sorry for them. Jade often switches partners often, sometimes two girls in a day, and Sapphirus used to tell him off, but gave up because for one he felt Jade hasn't really done anything terribly wrong, and that the women are just plain stupid. He feels that Jade is using the weakness of those women. Sapphirus doesn't hold the opinion that Jade is bad because of his actions, even though he can't fully accept that yet. Jade also often teases him whenever Sapphirus tries to lecture him about his actions, so Sapphirus finally just gave up on telling him off. Sapphirus thinks about how he has been with Jade for a long time now, and recently the conversations with Jade have had a bad aura around them, getting close to arguments. He mumbles to himself that Jade wouldn't possibly like him. He thinks Jade hates him. Sapphirus thinks that Jade is good in everything, as well as confident, while he sees himself as being completely useless. Sapphirus thinks that the reason why Jade is always angry and ungrateful is because his standards do not satisfy Jade's requirements. Sapphirus thinks that it's not his fault that he is not as good as Jade, because it's too hard to be equal to him. The gem on Jade's forehead is only given to angels who are very talented, and Sapphirus thinks that he is only normal, whereas Jade is special because he was given this gem.He works hard to reach Jade's expected standard from him, but he feels he just can't be what Jade wants. Sapphirus thinks they have a bad relationship and Jade is always ungrateful, but that cannot be helped because he was not given the chance to choose a partner. They are stuck together because they are the same, and he feels during their time together, that distance has not become closer, but further apart. He is tired of working so hard and mumbles that he does not want to work with Jade. But they receive their jobs because people are satisfied with them working together as a team, as they do a good job. They would tell others that they are childhood friends and that they do everything together, and before they used to even share a room together (though now they live in separate rooms), and it helped cover up their identities furthermore. ~*~ Outside, Jade complains about how long it is taking Sapphirus to change. Sapphirus finally meets Jade in the corridor, and Jade teases him, saying that he must have been dreaming about women. Sapphirus denies it but then Jade lies to him and says that he went into his room and he heard him sleep-talking. Then Sapphirus gets a bit mad and asks him when he came in, which confirms to Jade that Sapphirus was indeed dreaming about a woman. He continues to tease Sapphirus for a bit, and Sapphirus thinks to himself that Jade is horrible because he keeps reminding him of memories he doesn't want to recall, or saying things that he doesn't want to hear. After this, Sapphirus changes the subject by complaining about how he doesn't like his job. He says that he could be a cook or something, instead of killing angels. Jade calls him an idiot and says that this is a simple way to earn a living, and mentions that they could be kicked out if others have suspecions of their identities. Sapphirus again says that he wants their lifestyle in Naraku to end, but Jade says that this will continue until "the end," and says that Sapphirus being annoying. They head off to work. ~*~ Sapphirus thinks about how they live by slaughtering angels and demons over and over again. The hold swords and kill, use magic to harm others, and continually lie. They didn't do these things back in Heaven, and this makes it hard for Sapphirus to understand. But he's starting to get used to these things and he thinks it's scary: he's used to the smell of blood, the texture of bones and flesh, and the piercing screams of their victims. Jade and Sapphirus now arrive in a forest, and Sapphirus mumbles to himself that it will be easy to kill since he's used to it, and then says that what he just said sounded like Jade, and Jade denies this, and then Sapphirus refutes him, and they argue about it. Jade finally stops the argument because they are just wasting time. Jade tells Sapphirus that he thinks Sapphirus starting to get useful recently in battles, and Sapphirus asks whethere that's a compliment. Jade calls Sapphirus an idiot and that he is turning into a monkey. Then under his breath Jade says very quietly that Sapphirus doesn't understand his feelings. Sapphirus didn't hear this and says "Eh?" but Jade doesn't answer him. Sapphirus thinks back to the battle; he likes using magic better than using a sword, because he doesn't like to feel the sensation of the sword cutting into flesh. As for Jade, he can use anything, but he is better with magic, and prefers it as well... because he doesn't like to get his clothes dirty. Sapphirus just can't be like Jade who can kill so easily. However, Sapphirus then thinks that the nights in which he can sleep peacefully have increased, although he is alone in his room. ~*~ Back in town, the female leader of their bounty-hunting group announces that Team 5 (Sapphirus and Jade's team) has done the best, and gives them the reward money, as she subtlely flirts with Jade. Sapphirus is happy that they have done well, however Jade tells him ruthlessly that he didn't contribute much. Sapphirus denies this, and Jade says, "Oh well, it's acceptable." Sapphirus says that he will work harder in the future, and Jade says that he has to work /a lot/ harder. He then gives Sapphirus half of the money. Sapphirus tells Jade that he shouldn't speak impolitely and playfully with the female captain, and Jade asks whether Sapphirus is jealous. Sapphirus denies this, and then Jade says that Sapphirus hasn't realized it yet, and calls him a kid, ticking him in the forehead. He says that Sapphirus should just hide behind his back if he can't do anything, and says that he doesn't have any hopes for Sapphirus. Then Jade says that Sapphirus should think about what he has done before trying to tell him off, and leaves. Sapphirus thinks again that even though he's known Jade for quite some time, their relationship can't get any better. Although he understands that Naraku has a different lifestyle than Heaven, he still thinks that as angels they are special creatures, so they should not have to act like this. But Jade has been like this ever since he fell, lying to people and hurting them. Sapphirus thinks that if he met Jade in Heaven, he would have a completely different opinion of him, because of his smile. Then someone comes over to Sapphirus. He knows Sapphirus's name and asks him where his partner is. Sapphirus then angrily replies "Why should I know?" but then apologizes. The man asks Sapphirus to have a drink with him, as he has lots of things to ask him. He says that Sapphirus is strong as an angel killer, so he wants to get some advise from him. Sapphirus replies that he isn't, and that Jade is stronger. The man again says that Sapphirus is strong. Sapphirus refuses his invitation, even though he thinks that this is the first time that someone has praised him so much like this, saying that Jade usually visits him after work, as it is customary for this to have a bottle of alcohol together and argue. He thanks the man for inviting him anyway, and the man leaves, inviting him to come next time. Sapphirus says to himself that this is the first time that he has talked so much with a demon, as usually his only long conversations take place with Jade. Realizing this, he feels kind of happy, as to him it is proof that he is becoming more adapted to Naraku. He has the notion that demons are dirty creatures and different from angels, who are holy, so before this he felt uneasy communicating with demons. Jade had tried to persuade him to be more open, but Sapphirus didn't listen before. Sapphirus now feels that he has matured and proven that he can survive in Naraku, even though he is lying to the people around him. ~*~ Sapphirus has another dream of his girlfriend back in Heaven. She asks Sapphirus if he loves her the most out of all the angels, and Sapphirus says yes. She apoligizes because they haven't seen each other for a while. Sapphirus says that is it all right, and she then asks him whether anyone has told him that he is quite slow. He says, a few have told him that, but then she tells him that she's starting to think that he is not an idiot at all. He asks her whether that's a compliment, and she says yes, because when she first met him she thought he was quite dumb. She then asks herself why she has changed her opinion of him, and realizes she may be falling in love with him. She asks herself why she was born in Heaven. Sapphirus says that he is thankful that she was born there, otherwise he would not have known her. She then says that Sapphirus is not an idiot or an evil person, but a very gentle, considerate person, and has a lot of good points to his personality. The dream then ends with her saying, "But... Sapphirus..." ~*~ Sapphirus is running to work, as he got up late. He crashes into Jade while he's running, and Sapphirus tells Jade that it is rare for him to be waking up late, as usually it's Jade waking Sapphirus up in the morning. Jade replies with "I... um, nothing...", apparently up to something. Sapphirus says to Jade that he thinks Jade looks tired, and asks him the reason why he wasn't in last night, and tells him that he should go rest, and he'll go to work alone. Jade firmly rejects, and they both run to work after that. ~*~ After work, Sapphirus asks Jade whether he is okay, and Jade says he is fine, but Sapphirus claims he looks pale. Jade replies that it doesn't matter, for their work is completed. Sapphirus thinks that Jade uses quite a lot of energy to cast powerful magic, despite his appearance. Jade is one of the best magic-users in the town. Again Sapphirus feels that is is not good enough to be Jade's partner. Sapphirus tells Jade that he has used too much magic that day, and asks him why he didn't call for his help, because he is his partner. Jade hadn't called for his help because he knows that Sapphirus doesn't like killing, and was trying to protect him from having to do more killing than necessary, but he doesn't mention this. Sapphirus asks Jade to take tomorrow off to rest. Jade says no, and that after he gets a night of sleep he will feel fine. They leave to receive the rewards for their kill. ~*~ Back in Sapphirus's bedroom, he waits for Jade, like usual. Jade doesn't show up, and Sapphirus thinks that it is because Jade doesn't feel well, so Sapphirus goes to sleep. He has another dream of his girlfriend. She asks him whether he has any other important people in his life other than her, like family. Sapphirus doesn't have any except for her, he has been alone. But Sapphirus doesn't feel bad about that, because he still has clothes to wear, a place called home, and food to eat. He doesn't hate the angels above him with all the authority, even though they are strict. She replies that the reason he doesn't hate those angels is because they regard him as a helpless little goat, and Sapphirus doesn't understand what she means. She mentions that if he ever gets separated from her, it will be very painful for him. ~*~ Sapphirus is in the forest, and Jade apparently is nowhere to be seen. He meets with the man he had met before, who asks him about the whereabouts of Jade. Sapphirus says that Jade overworked himself yesterday, and that is why he is absent. He is worried about Jade and wants to visit him. The man then says that Jade was using magic that no demon could have done (implying that he is /not/ a demon). He then kind of takes back his words and says that it's good to have such a talent. Sapphirus, a bit worried over what he just said, tells him that Jade is quite strong. The man asks whether he is hiding any secrets, like using magic wands or the like, and Sapphirus denies this. The man asks whether Sapphirus would team up with him, since Jade was absent, because his partner died recently, and therefore he is looking for a new partner. Until he gets a new partner, he can't do much. Sapphirus then has the choice to team up with him for the day or reject the offer. If you chose to team up with him, he introduces himself as Rize. They worked together and finished the work for the day. Sapphirus thinks that they worked well together, and that he fits him better than Jade, because Rize is a swordsman and Sapphirus is a mage. Sapphirus thinks it is quite unbelievable that he thinks they worked well together, because usually with Jade, Sapphirus doesn't do much, typically just the "after work" (cleaning up). Rize really wants to team up with Sapphirus, and gives Sapphirus a small bag of gold from their rewards for the kill. It's the first time that Sapphirus has received money from someone other than Jade. Sapphirus then heads off to find Jade. He searches all over town, but still can't find him, and is starting to get worried, because it is not like Jade to just disappear. Usually they would leave some sort of secret messages to inform each other of their whereabouts, because of their identities, and the maximum limit of no communication at all is three days. Sapphirus thinks that although Jade looks strong, if he were to collapse it would be very serious, so he continues to search for him. Sapphirus finally finds Jade, and asks him where he had been, and Jade just replies that he had something to do. Jade and Sapphirus go to Jade's room after that, and Sapphirus asks Jade to apologize, and Jade does so. Sapphirus asks Jade to stop disappearing like that, and also questions Jade's rough appearance. Sapphirus leaves, and mutters to himself, "You don't really care about anyone other than yourself." He's upset with Jade because Jade hurt himself and looks exhausted, missed work, and Jade's attitude over the whole matters. Sapphirus really wants to lie to hurt him, to make him feel defeated, and then wonders whether all geniuses are arrogant and have bad attitudes like Jade, but tries not to take that view. Sapphirus then wonders why God arranged such a meeting with him and Jade, and not with someone else instead. ~*~ Sapphirus is having another dream about his girlfriend in Heaven. She asks Sapphirus "Do you love me?" and of course he says yes. Then she gets a bit angry, saying Sapphirus didn't listen to her, she wants to know if he loves her the most. Sapphirus tells her that God has already guaranteed their happiness, and asks her why she still feels insecure, and that he lives to protect her and he has no insecurity at all. She says that Sapphirus is "that type of person," and that's why he can live happily, but she isn't the same as Sapphirus. She says that she understands what she expects of Sapphirus, and Sapphirus then asks her to tell him, but she says that if she does tell him, he'll betray her. She advises Sapphirus to look out for what she wants, then maybe happiness would come to them both, but Sapphirus says he is happy right now. ~*~ The dream ends, and Sapphirus is in his bedroom, thinking. He doesn't remember her appearance, but he remembers she is very beautiful, and that he didn't deserve such a cute ex-girlfriend. Her words used to always confuse him, and it's like a puzzle which needs to be solved. Sapphirus would have given her anything she wanted, and he used to love her so much, that's why he was never ashamed of saying "I love you" to her all the time. But at that time, when he said it, she didn't smile, and she didn't look at him, and she released their clasping hands. He then questions to himself why she betrayed him, and why he doesn't hate her for betraying him. He draws the conclusion that it's because he loves her. Sapphirus leaves his room, and is met by Jade. Jade says that Sapphirus has grown up since he woke up by himself. Then Sapphirus tells Jade off because he slept a bit later than usual. Jade apologizes, and Sapphirus then asks Jade whether he slept well, because he doesn't look good. Jade admits he wants a bit more sleep, and Sapphirus asks for how much longer, and Jade says "It's a secret." Sapphirus assumes that Jade hasn't slept all night, even though Jade says he has. Sapphirus says Jade is lying because he looks pale, and Jade demands that he is fine to work. Sapphirus wants him to rest and orders Jade to take a day off. Jade gets a bit annoyed with Sapphirus for ordering him around, and in the end goes to work with Sapphirus, even though Sapphirus is quite worried. ~*~ After work, Jade sounds tired and appears hurt. Sapphirus tells him off for not letting him help and rely on him a bit more. Jade gets annoyed and tells Sapphirus to shut up, and says that the only thing Sapphirus should do is listen to him, and that he shouldn't think much of anything else, and tells him not to worry. Sapphirus argues back and questions why Jade won't rely on him more. Jade says that Sapphirus is in no position to worry about him, for Sapphirus hasn't sorted out his own "problems" yet. Sapphirus asks what are his "problems." Jade then says that Sapphirus has been trying too hard to cope in Naraku. Sapphirus says he's not finding it hard to cope, he's matured a lot and has socialized with magicians a lot, and has even worked with one of them, so Sapphirus should be able to help Jade, in his opinion. Jade hits Sapphirus, and tells him off for being stupid, and that Sapphirus doesn't understand what he is up to. Jade asks Sapphirus whether he's been sleeping well recently, since he hasn't visited Sapphirus to have a drink with him in the evening for quite a while. Sapphirus says yes, and tells Jade to get some rest. Then Rize comes up to them, and offers to carry Jade back to his room. Jade rejects firmly. Sapphirus asks Jade why, for he believes that Rize is nice and friendly. Sapphirus then starts chatting with Rize. Jade says if Rize touches him, he will kill him. Rize then leaves and says that if Jade ever needs help, he can come to him. Sapphirus asks Jade why he minds Rize so much, because he usually doesn't care about anything. Jade says that he doesn't, if he did mind, he would have killed him. Jade then asks Sapphirus whether he was Sapphirus's partner before, and Sapphirus says yes. Jade says he is unforgivable. Sapphirus asks what's so bad about Rize that Jade doesn't like. Jade says that Sapphirus is an idiot, and Sapphirus doesn't understand what he means. Jade asks what Sapphirus has learnt so far in Naraku, and Sapphirus replies that he is trying his best. Jade calls him an idiot again, and they start to argue, as Sapphirus wants Jade to rely and trust him more. He knows that he can never be as good as Jade, but he's trying his best, and he would never betray Jade. Jade says he has already betrayed him, otherwise he wouldn't be in this state, and Sapphirus gets confused again. He asks what he has done wrong, and Jade says he has done nothing wrong. Sapphirus asks why Jade doesn't trust him then, but Jade just leaves. ~*~ Sapphirus dreams again. His girlfriend asks him whether he loves her, which he of course says yes, and then she asks him whether he will do anything for her, and he again says yes. She asks whether he feels happy with her and if he doesn't want to lose her. Sapphirus again answers yes, and she says she has a request. She says she wants him to fall because he is a burden to her, and that his existance causes her to be unhappy. She wants him to disappear but doesn't want him to die, she wants him to leave his name behind. She wants to be happy, so she begs Sapphirus. She starts to leave and Sapphirus shouts "Wait!" She answers back, asking him what he wants, and that he doesn't love her the most, so he shouldn't always go to her, who only has the second place in his heart. She shouts to Sapphirus that if he hates her, then he should tell her. ~*~ Sapphirus wakes up, still during the night, and is glad that it was only a dream. He remembered that after that it was darkness. He then questions why he didn't go mad but others did when they arrived in Naraku. He then concludes that it was because he was thinking of her. He then thinks about how it has been peaceful lately. Usually he would sleep soundly till morning, and then he could "escape" from the dream world peacefully. Before, when he shared a room with Jade, he used to wake up at night. Jade should have noticed, but never said anything about it. He questions to himself why Jade doesn't trust him more, since he has made it clear to him that he likes him and that he wants his trust. He questions why he couldn't convey his feelings to Jade properly, and why Jade doesn't tell him how to convey his feelings. Sapphirus has tried his best, but if he doesn't know what the other person wants from him, he can't do anything. He wants to be what others expect of him, and he tries his hardest, but in the end he is always wrong. Rize then knocks on the door suddenly. Rize asks Sapphirus whether he has some time and invites Sapphirus to have a drink with him. Sapphirus starts to get suspicious, because it is weird for Rize to come that late at night. Sapphirus remembers Jade saying that he should be alert at all times, so Sapphirus doesn't let Rize in. Sapphirus then says to Rize that he won't get any advantages from getting close to him and that if he wants help, he should call for Jade. Rize answers, saying that there's a misunderstanding. He says he wants to tell Sapphirus about Jade. Sapphirus wants to know, as he knows slightly that Jade has been doing something behind his back. When Jade decides that he is not telling, he will never tell, and Sapphirus remembers Jade calling him an idiot and that he should just listen to him and not interfere with his affairs. Even though Jade is hurt and in pain, he rejects his help, and decides everything. Sapphirus thinks about it, and then lets Rize in. Rize notices an odor in Sapphirus's room, and thinks it is a "good" odor. Rize tells Sapphirus that Jade is currently in the female staff officer's room. Sapphirus looks kind of shocked. Rize then says that Sapphirus and Jade are not childhood friends as they claim, and Sapphirus says that they are. Rize also says that Sapphirus is not a magician, and Sapphirus looks shocked. Sapphirus then asks for his purposes, and Rize says he hasn't got any, but that he notices Sapphirus keeps looking through Jade, and that Sapphirus really hates Jade because they argue and such. Sapphirus thinks to himself that he has no choice, as Jade is his only partner. Rize continues to question Sapphirus, asking whether he feels that he is important to Jade. Then he asks Sapphirus whether he hates being his partner. Sapphirus says he was happy with him. Rize says that Sapphirus should be his partner instead. Rize doesn't mind who he is, or where he is from, for he doesn't know where he is from as well, and that he will keep the secret for Sapphirus. Rize continues to try to persuade Sapphirus to join him, and asks Sapphirus to assess his importance to Jade, and teaches Sapphirus a method for him to assess this. Sapphirus couldn't resist the temptation of knowing what Jade thinks of him, because he was hurt by Jade's coldness towards him, so he wants to resist him, even for a tiny bit. Rize then leaves. ~*~ The next morning, Sapphirus knocks on Jade's door, and there is no reply, so he goes in, and notices Jade is still sleeping. Sapphirus starts to talk to Jade and says that it's unusual for him to still be asleep at that hour. Sapphirus thinks again, about the past, when there was a time when Sapphirus tried to resist Jade. Sapphirus was in despair, he detested doing such dirty work everyday, so he was thinking of travelling to a far away land. At that time Sapphirus thought he should just kill himself by cutting his own throat, carrying his memories from Heaven. He wanted to escape, but he knew he wouldn't be forgiven if he committed suicide. He told Jade that he wanted to die, and Jade got very angry, not because he wanted to die, but because he was being irresponsible. And now Sapphirus stays with Jade, so they can keep their secret together. [Possibly ties in to the "Soul Flower" short story.] Jade then wakes up. Sapphirus asks Jade when he first fell in love. Jade asks Sapphirus why he wants to know all of a sudden, and Sapphirus replies that he is inexperianced, so that's why he is asking Jade. Jade says that he has never been in love. Jade asks Sapphirus to leave, so he can sleep for a bit longer, and then Sapphirus asks Jade how he could dosuch a thing last night, since he didn't love the female staff officer. Jade calls Sapphirus an idiot, and Sapphirus says that he is concerned about him because they are partners. Then there is a long silence, and Jade says the word "partner" again. Sapphirus then starts to get angry with Jade, because he doesn't explain what is going on, and he isn't that clever to understand everything. He wants Jade to tell him what to do to satisfy him. Jade then asks who Sapphirus was prompted by to say such things. Jade says to Sapphirus that he doesn't need to worry about anything, and that he is an idiot for getting so hyped up just because someone encouraged him to do so. Sapphirus still wants him to explain, and Jade refuses to tell him, and says maybe Sapphirus should break his partnership with him. Jade believes that there are somethings which don't need to be said, but can be expressed in other ways, and he tells Sapphirus that he has matured because Sapphirus developed such a close relationship with a magician, and therefore he should live fine in Naraku, although he is living in lies. Before Sapphirus looked like he could die so easily, he was physically and mentally weak, but now Jade says that he shouldn't worry in the first place considering how now Sapphirus has the energy to tell him off, and that maybe Sapphirus is more suited for Naraku than Heaven. Sapphirus thinks to himself again. He wouldn't mind seeing his girlfriend in Heaven again, but even if he returned to Heaven, things would never return to before, and he would never be able to talk to her peacefully again. He wants to go back because he hates Naraku, he hates the blood, war, and lies. Jade says it doesn't matter if Sapphirus leaves, he is tired of looking at Sapphirus and he says that Sapphirus should be a cook in the first place, although it is a plain job, and then he tells Sapphirus goodbye. Sapphirus then asks Jade if this is it, and whether he has no value to Jade at all, and Jade says no, and that to Sapphirus, death is the ultimate happiness, and that he has interfered with Sapphirus. Sapphirus says that is not it, and thinks to himself that it's because of Jade that he is still here, and it's his wish to live. Sapphirus thinks again that it is normal for two individuals to meet at a point in their lives and part. ~*~ Sapphirus has a dream of his first killing with Jade. Sapphirus asks him how Jade could get used to killing his own kind, and Jade answered that they were like birds, and by holding that thought it made it easier for him to kill. Jade said that birds and angels are the same, angels are nothing more special, the same with magicians and angels, and Sapphirus didn't understand, because he held the belief that they were specially created creatures, and asks Jade whether he felt proud because he was special. Jade says that even if he did have such a belief, the enemy didn't hold that belief. They were done for the day and Sapphirus apologized to Jade, and Jade asks Sapphirus what he would do if he ever saw that female angel again. Jade told him that she deserved to die, and if God exists, she deserved to be punished. But Sapphirus answers that he loved her, so he wouldn't do anything to her. Jade then says that he had never met an angel like Sapphirus, and that Sapphirus is the ideal type of angel wanted in Heaven. Sapphirus couldn't understand, and apologized. Jade then wonders why he had to be with Sapphirus and not someone else instead. ~*~ Rize knocks on the door and enters Sapphirus's room. Rize has brought Sapphirus dinner, and Sapphirus remembers how Jade used to go into his room with a bottle of whisky and cheese in the evenings, and they would eat and talk about nothing. Sapphirus thought that it would continue... Rize starts talking to Sapphirus, and tells him that something went wrong in the north of Naraku, and some important royalty is sorting the problem out. Rize wants to go and see, and Sapphirus sounds interested. Rize tells Sapphirus not to tell anyone about it, otherwise everyone would rush to the north and they wouldn't gain much from it. Sapphirus smiles, and Rize tells him to forget about Jade and stop getting depressed. Sapphirus tells himself internally to forget about Heaven and Jade, because Jade is not holding his hand anymore, and he should try his best in Naraku, and work with the magicians in Naraku. So Rize and Sapphirus decide to go to the north, and then Rize asks Sapphirus about his hair, and if it is annoying for always blocking part of his view. Sapphirus says he is used to it, and he doesn't mind it being there. Rize wants to have a look, but Sapphirus doesn't want him to. Rize then reaches and touches his hair, and Sapphirus feels the roughness of his skin, and can smell his odor, and is reminded that he is an angel and that Rize is a magician. Becoming sensitive, Sapphirus then kills Rize. ~*~ Sapphirus dreams of his first time killing again, how he couldn't get up after the kill, and Jade had urged him to get up and go. Jade had made it clear that he wouldn't help him, and had said that they would head for a village filled with magicians. Sapphirus didn't want to go, but Jade said that people would treat them like magicians. Sapphirus demanded that Jade shouldn't mix with them, so Jade then proposed that they go in and kill everyone in God's name. After that, they would be killed, so Sapphirus shouldn't mind his "wings" and identity anymore. But Sapphirus hated this idea even more, and demanded some time for him to settle down. ~*~ Back in Sapphirus's room, he sits on his bed, the room covered in magician's blood. Sapphirus dislikes the smell of Rize's blood mixing with his own blood, the smell of rubbish that doesn't believe in God, filled with sins like a wild creature. Sapphirus then asks himself if he is the same as Rize, and convinces himself that he is not, he is of a higher existance. Jade then knocks on the door, saying that he forgot to tell Sapphirus something important. He advises Sapphirus to not go to the north no matter what, because they were capturing angels in the north who haven't gone mad so they could collect info on Heaven. Jade then says goodbye to Sapphirus. Sapphirus answers back, asking Jade to save him. Sapphirus starts talking to himself, saying he feels horrible, asking why everyone is so evil. He then thinks again, asking himself, why does trust always brings betrayal in the end, although he has worked so hard. He doesn't understand. He wants others to know his feelings.... and accept him and praise him. He tries to be the person that everyone wants him to be, especially for Jade. But Jade doesn't feel that way, and Sapphirus doesn't understand. He asks for God, and wants to know why He's not here for him. ~*~ Jade talks to himself, and says that Sapphirus is always just thinking and planning, but not doing... Planning to understand, planning to like... And that's peaceful, but if one only relies on planning, then they can't continue living. He calls Sapphirus a useless person, and in his muttering, says that they have to start over again from the beginning, because they had to escape from the bounty hunter camp since Sapphirus killed Rize. Jade hits Sapphirus and he wakes up. Sapphirus asks why he is here, and Jade tells him that his room can never be cleaned, so he ran away with Sapphirus. Jade tells Sapphirus to go to sleep and orders him to not ask him why he saved Sapphirus. ~*~ Sapphirus dreams again about his first meeting with his girlfriend. They were introduced as each other's "mating partner" and she was relieved it was Sapphirus and not some fat old man. Sapphirus tells her his name. He thinks again; he doesn't understand his or her actions, his or her wishes, or his or her feelings, and this is not their fault, but his own fault. ~*~ It is now in the present, after Jade and Sapphirus have stolen the gem from the former King of Naraku, using it to set fire to parts of Naraku. Sapphirus looks at the burning flames destroying Naraku and asks Jade whether it's fun to burn Naraku. Sapphirus thinks to himself again that there's only one path, and that's decided by God. But is that really so? Sapphirus questions... He has been aiming to return to that sky. He then remembers Alex saying that everyone hates being alone. But he is not alone anymore, but even so, he has worked so hard to get to this stage. He shouldn't return... he has no place left to go... but to that sky. Sapphirus then start chatting to Jade, telling him that he has the exact quality of being an angel. Jade asks why, and Sapphirus says that because he treats everyone equally, which is different from him. Jade agrees, then asks Sapphirus when was his first love? Sapphirus says it's a secret... and says that if his love is Jade, how would he feel. Jade says that he would be sick, but that he would pay anything to return to the old days in Heaven. Sapphirus then thinks to himself that the reason he wants to return is to have a fresh start. It's also his true home, a place he longs for. But now, the sky to him is dark red in color, and he assumes that it's because his eyes are probably contaminated and it's his fault for not seeing the its beauty. Sapphirus says to Jade that he believes in their promise, that he won't tell anyone what has happened. Jade has forgotten their promise, and Sapphirus kind of tells him off for having forgotten. Then they head off, and Sapphirus thinks that at that moment, they are closer than ever before. Therefore he feels happy, because he's not alone anymore. But... his chest hurts. But Sapphirus is determined to return to that sky, however dirty it is... ~*The End*~
